The amount of attacks have increased throughout the years and the media is essential during these times because its responsibility is to provide coverage and keep the world informed about the phenomenon. The second article uses multiple variables, which include looking at an individual’s resilience, emotions, perceived risk, and religious faith following an attack. The first article is more concerned with what is happening while the variables from the second article are more focused on how people react to a catastrophic event. The variables in both articles allow terrorism to be viewed, measured and interpreted in different ways. In both articles the variables are successfully able to measure terrorism and shows how one concept can be studied in many different ways. There is no one universal way in understanding terrorism and the variables used in both articles proves that different studies produce different results on the same topic. The second article focuses on individuals from England while the first article focuses more on a social institution.
