There are few things greater than the feeling one gets from learning about and creating art. In today 's society, many schools have lost sight of the importance of art education. Studies have shown that schools that offer art education have overall higher test scores than schools that did not. It was also noted that schools with art programs had higher attendance rates. Art has always been an uplifting activity and experience throughout time. It is important that students are not held back by the school systems from successful futures because of a lack of art education.
Art Education is a necessary part of the development of each human being. Many who have studied learning through the ages, starting with Plato, emphasized the importance of the arts in education. Study in the arts is integral to our society. The founders are a part of the cultural heritage of human life. A 2005 report by the rand corporation argued that the pleasures and stimulation of the art experience do more than "sweeten an individual 's life". According to the report, they "can connect people more deeply to the world and open them to new ways of seeing," creating the foundation to forge social bonds and community cohesion. In many school districts, the arts have suffered so long that it will take years, and lots of funding to turn things around.
