Style of painting

Leonardo da Vinci avoided the palette and mixed colors directly on the canvas, he applied thin layers of paint directly on the canvas in different colors one on top of the other to create a rich texture. He uses sfumato technique, a gradual dissolving of the forms themselves, continuous interaction between light and shade and an uncertain sense of the time of day.
