The Army values are the foundation for good soldiering in the United States Army. Soldiers and leaders of the Army live by seven core values. These values are often referred to by using the acronym LDRSHIP. The Army values are Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity and Personal Courage. This Essay will cover what the seven Army values means to me. Loyalty to me is an unwavering support and belief towards someone or something. As a solider I am expected to be loyal at all times to my unit, fellow comrades, and chain of command. I believe that I demonstrate loyalty every time I put on my uniform and follow orders. This allows me to not only be loyal to the Army and my country.

Honor is holding each value close to the heart and living them daily. I would refer to one that honored as one would has self-discipline. It is a means of respect to my entire chain of command, the unit, and fellow comrades. It shows that one will not allow themselves or anyone else be beaten by fears and to overcome obstacles. Integrity means doing what is right no matter the situation. To have integrity is to trust your instincts to do the right thing morally and legally. I like to refer to integrity as doing the right thing even when no one is watching. The more choices you make based on integrity, the more this value will reflect who you are and what you believe in. Personal Courage to me means being able to pick yourself up when you have failed, being stronger than the voice of doubt in order to move on and complete the mission. Persona courage can be a matter of risking your own personal safety for your fellow comrades. You can build personal courage by responding to adversity with confidence. In conclusion, the Army values are not just the foundation for good soldiering but they are also a code to live by both professionally and personally. All seven of the Army values are in twined. You cannot live by some of them without living by all of them. The Army Values are not just words but a blueprint to the way of
