Constantly taking selfies at a concert or snapchatting every minute of over song at that concert, has gone too far. Aleg Hager, a senior in high school, stated that, “Pictures are supposed to solidify a special moment forever, but the proliferation of selfies has devalued the power of a photograph.” People a desensitized to the fact that not too long ago, not everyone had the power to hold their phone up and snap a picture whenever they wanted to. Phones didn’t always come with cameras and if they did, they were the “new and improved” ones that maybe not all could afford to have. So, what did everyone have at a concert 20 or 30 years ago to hold up for a slow song? They in fact had an actual lighter, not a lighter app on their phone. Now you are really thinking to yourself, aren’t you? What did they have to take a picture or record the song that was playing? Well my friend, one person in your group may have had a camera to take photos to be developed later on, and actually put in an album to be shared at a later date. This means you can enjoy the event and people around you at that moment. Remember the good times with the people you are surrounded by and not remember a night staring into a phone, posting to social
