I also want to talk about what I don’t have to prove. The law says I must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that on February 26, 2012, that the defendant struck Trayvon Martin, and did so intentionally, and that there was an absence of self-defense. I don’t have to prove why, what the motive was, or whether the death was cause by a bullet. All I have to prove that the assault had occurred. That is what I has to be proven. That is it. I don’t have to prove that the defendant is a bad person. This case is not based upon proving a judgment of a person but rather the judgment of their actions. Maybe the defendant woke up on the wrong side of the bed or simple was having a bad day, maybe he had too eager to protect his community. The defendant isn’t the first guy who has gotten himself in a bit to much little trouble on a Sunday night, and he won’t be the last man on this planet. But I would ask that you find him accountable for what he did. And that is assault in the second degree murder. Thank
