The Border's Effect The native americans lived in the areas that are now Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Mexico. These natives were the Aztecs who were conquered by the Spanish, creating Mexicans. In recent times, the internet is showing more and more about what is going on in Mexico such as the 43 disappeared students who were taken by the police and the recent riots that have happened on November 20th. Even the reporters., whose job it is to update the news on what is going on are being threatened, hunted even. Luis Antonio Cardona Galindo is a reporter from the city of Juarez who was kidnapped by the mafia. He made a report on how the mafia kills drivers of trailers and that they steal the trailers to pass drugs. In his interview, he says he was stopped by arm men who told him to get in their car and was covered up. They put handcuffs on him where he began to think he was taken by police. He was taken into a building where he heard people, citizens of the town, outside yelling, mentioning police here and there. “They took me down a hallway and while walking, I tripped. I tried to put out my right hand but since I was handcuffed, I fell like this and hit bars. That's when I realized this was a jail cell and I was in the police department” (Galindo.) While being captured, he was beat until his body was numb from the pain, spit on, hit by with a wooden stick. He was taken to a mountain where he was peed on, burned with cigars, made fun of and ridiculed by the two men who abused him. Eventually, one of the two men takes pity on him and lets him live but leave him on the side of the highway, by Chihuahua. The things the mafia does to people is inhumane and people have to live with the constant fear that the mafia and even the police, can harm them at any time that they wish and they don't have a way of fighting
