Latino Crime Issues

For my article I decided to write about crime issues involving Latinos. I decided to read about Why the deaths of Latinos at the hands of police haven’t drawn as much attention. By Nicole Santa Cruz, Ruben Vives and Marisa Gerber. This article talks about how a guy named Ramirez never saw police as a threat, he saw them with respect because they wore a uniform and they took care of us. Ramirez then had another perspective of police when they killed his brother. The way his brother died was by a police officer. His brother, Oscar, was in the railroad tracks near paramount high school. Police said that he didn’t follow the rules and he moved his arm in a threatening manner but he was unarmed. After this incident him, family members and friends protested to make justice but none was done about it. …show more content…
I found this article very interesting because I have notice the media covering more about black lives and not Latino lives. Even after the video was release of Oscars death the video went viral on YouTube but little protests was done about it. I think if people would see that not only black people are getting killed but other lives like Latinos are taking away. It is harder to see Latinos be more united to stand up for the death of there own people because I feel like most of the Latinos are scared to say what they think. Theses types of issues should be out more for more people to know and people should help make justice as much as people who support black lives matters. I was not aware of this situation because I thought it was mostly black lives who were in danger by injustice police
