When he asked the eighth graders why technology has a negative impact on their lives, Malone gave a reason as well as an explanation to their responses. One of the kids said that “technology is the key to procrastination.” In the article, Malone stated that 80 percent of the kids reported that they had lost exquisite amounts of sleep due to playing on the internet, and 50 percent said they had forgotten to do homework for the same reason.
