The presidents, the world wars, relations between countries were subjects I wished to be more knowledgeable about in my youth. I had no expectations about learning history and I had no visions of how I wanted to learn about history because my overall goal was just to learn no matter. As I entered my first high school class on world history, I soon realized my urge to learn history would not be satisfied. My world history teacher was not concerned about teaching his students anything about world history. Most of the class periods consisted of group work he assigned from a textbook which often resulted in the entire class talking all period long. As a timid freshman, I didn’t mind these kinds of activities because I didn’t want to become too stressed or overwhelmed with my classes. However, I could never be stressed in world history if I was never learning anything.
