Accepting that there is a problem is the first step toward a path of recovery. For many years, the issue of global warming has been debated and every last piece of information has been presented. In midst of all this debate, it seems as though every single member of society has formulated their own opinion of this issue primarily based on biased media coverage as opposed to any research of their own. In his film, An Inconvenient Truth, filmmaker Davis Guggenheim decides to dilute the negative effects of misleading media coverage by following long time global rights activist, Al Gore, on the lecture circuit. The former presidential candidate campaigns to raise public awareness of the dangers of global warming and calls for immediate action to curb its destructive effects on the environment. Davis Guggenheim assertively overthrows the claim that there are any legitimate points of opposition towards the actual existence of the issue. Through his use of compelling statistics and figures to solidify the existence of Global Warming and humor to provide comic relief for greater acceptance of his message, filmmaker Davis Guggenheim persuasively asserts his claim that global warming is a very real and eradicating issue that grants immediate attention.
