Franklin Pierce was born on November 23, 1804 in Hillsboro, New Hampshire. Pierce’s father, Benjamin Peirce, was an American Revolutionary War hero. He held some political prowess in the rural town they lived in. Pierce’s mother, Anna Kendrick Pierce, had 8 children. Her children's education was her biggest priority. When Pierce was 12 years old he had left public schools to attend at private academies. When Pierce had become 15 years old he went to Bowdoin College in Maine. There he had excelled at at public speaking. In 1824 he had graduated fifth in his class. When Pierce turned 24 in 1829 he was elected to the New Hampshire Legislature.
