Over fifty years ago Dr. King spoke about his dreams in front of the Lincoln Monument. Dreams that yelled for equality between afro-americans and white people. When Obama got elected to office, he became the first black president in the history of the US. Many people thought that this were Dr. King’s dreams coming true. What people do not see is the contradictions that still live in the US.

Now when he got elected his second time and does not have to worry about getting elected again, he can focus on subjects regarding black peoples’ economical situations. There is no doubt that his second term in office will focus on Dr.King’s and the CRM’s wishes and promises. Obama wants to change things regarding the growing inequality and especially the ”stop and frisk”-law, where the police have right to stop and frisk crime suspects on questionable grounds. Over ninety percent of the people stopped are black or afro-americans and eight out of ten are innocent.
Dr. King would likely smile if he saw what had been accomplished since his death. With Obama in the white house and such huge steps towards a better life for non-white americans there is no doubt that King’s dreams are nowadays closer to reality. But in the end his dreams where about economical equality and justice between all americans. There is a possibility that a part of him would feel despair knowing the facts about the existing gap between black and white people, that the social movement has stalled, that the major part of prison inmates are black and that you would get more for a minimum wage in the 1960s than
