In the short story All American the women talks about how she wants something that she can not have which is a married man. This women describes this guy’s wife as the enemy, simply because she knew that this man was sleeping with his wife also known as “the enemy.” This women should not be angry with this women simply because she is not doing anything wrong she is legally married to this man. If she is angry with anyone it should be the man, he is the one that is seducing her and he knows that he is married while he is out fornicating. This women then begins to say how she is forced to love the ones that she is supposed to love. Then she goes on to say that she has to force herself on the ones she should not love. It seems like that she does not know how to love. She is trying to find love instead of letting love find her. She is forcing herself onto people she has no busy with. She even seen this pattern of throwing herself on people at a young age. At a younger point in her life she recalls forcing herself on her sister. Maybe she tries too hard, she is forcing the puzzle pieces in the wrong spots. She is looking for love in all the wrong places. In this specific short story it seems as though she is the enemy, the only reason being is because the enemy only comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
