Both of the poems share a happy and a loving marriage. These two poems were composed about two hundred years separated, but each depict a kind of love that endures until the end of time. They both touch the points of how genuine love never shows signs of change regardless of how many years pass by and the feeling of being fulfilled by someone else. Both authors believed in god, had confidence and religiousness. From Anne Bradstreet’s poem: “The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.” (Ferguson, Salter, and Stallworthy “To…” Line 10 pg 465), expresses that all she can do is pray that he will get his prize for loving her so much in paradise. She believes that while she and her husband are living on Earth, they ought to love each other as completely as possible so that when they rise to Heaven, their love will be everlasting. In the poem, How Do I Love Thee?, Browning says in her last two lines: “if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death.”(Ferguson, Salter, and Stallworthy “How…” Line 13-14 pg 947), shows a belief in God and it continues a hope for her being able to love him even more in Heaven.
