The Injustice theme is consistent throughout all of “Ali and the Ball” as it is a main driver of the story line. In the PLOT, it immediately becomes apparent that the amount of freedom and humanity the refugees are given is minuet, which can kill of any emotion and possible make characters lose a will to live (e.g when Ali is awoken from the man stabbing himself). The ball, one of the only belongings the children have in the detention centre, is thrown over the fence. It obviously would have stayed there if not for the girl. Items that characters may hold dear are confiscated due to safety issues, which sounds reasonable, but once again removes all entertainment from the refugees. The parents of the girl warn her not
