In our current state, the American traditions are constantly adapting in ways that better suit raising future generations. The direction that our culture continues to move towards is becoming more and more similar to that of the Brave New World’s customs of belief. However, the apparent difference in this stands as the position that the two societies would take on this shift towards a casual sex mentality. Our current society takes a negative standing on this situation while in Brave New World, this stands as one of their primary “morals.” When providing an insight of Brave New World’s past societies, the Director shares that “For a very long period before the time of Our Ford, and even for some generations afterwards, erotic play between children had been regarded as abnormal (there was a roar of laughter); and not only abnormal, actually immoral (no!): and had therefore been rigorously suppressed” (Huxley). The overall reaction from the crowd in Brave New World suggests that they do not only disapprove of these types of “morals”, but are in disgust that any society would ever consider them as correct.
