I chose to present on Greece because I am fascinated by its beauty, culture, and history. I remember growing up I particularly enjoyed stories of Greek mythology. Zeus, and Athena, Hercules, Pegasus, Mermaids and Centaurs. It was all so imaginative and captivating to me. Greece is also diversely beautiful. In Santorini you will find white clay houses adorned with blue roofs overlooking the ocean. Black and red sand beaches, remnants of the volcano that created the islands its caldera can be seen in the distance. Caper grows wild across Santorini and is widely used in cuisine. When unpicked, the caper bud opens to reveal a fragrant purple and white flower. The monasteries in Meteora are one of the most extraordinary sights you can find in mainland Greece. These monasteries were built on top of huge natural rock pillars. The first monasteries were reached by climbing ladders and later monks were hauled up in nets by windlasses. The cliffs were thought of as the perfect place to seek isolation, discover peace and spirituality. You can still see the individual caves that the hermits lived in. In Athens you get a whole different experience where ancient and modern times mix. It’s a city whose narrow pathways are painted with graffiti and street art, lined with outdoor cafes, and markets and overlooked by the Parthenon. You can visit Plaka, the oldest neighborhood in Athens, the Temple of Zeus and the Acropolis museum. Here you can try Greek street food, sit at an outdoor café…
