Cross Functional Teams And Management Case Study

There are a multitude of management techniques and trends. Some are fads, and so come and go with little long-term impact. Others can change, not only the ways we do business and manage our employees, but how we even think about our business. For this weeks discussion I have chosen three management trends I believe will eventually prove to be in the later.

1. Cross Functional Teams and Management

· Management has been talking about breaking down silos for years. But today, silos are alive and well in most, and especially large, organizations. While almost any leader can enumerate the many downsides to a siloes, few have been able to truly overcome the siloed, highly specialized departments or teams for a meaningful long-term improvement in efficiency.

The key to their demise is in cross-functional teams. (CFT) (Maddock & Viton, 2009) Cross-functional teams are teams that are made up of people for different functional areas of the company or department.
