Assignment Two With the establishment of a powerful two-party political system in the United States, the Democrats and Republicans – there are vital differences between the two which distinguish one from another and are founded on very powerful beliefs. Both political parties are beneficial to the United States in their own way, and both also have their downfalls. Examples of some different beliefs the two parties have are on tax policy, social issues, labor and free trade, education, and health care. Although the Democratic Party is the world’s oldest existing political party, I tend to lean towards the Conservative party for two reasons. One, being that I agree with the party more than with the liberal party, and two, most issues I find important are equally as important to the party. An issue which is important to me is tax reduction. The conservative party supports the reduction of tax, and that issue is a wide debate going on today. This party believes that budget surpluses have caused Americans to be overtaxed – a condition that is not only threatening our financial prosperity, but along with that, it is hindering growth to the country’s economy (Republicanviews.org). I could not agree more with their philosophy about this, and it is essential that we Americans find a way to promote lower taxes and in order to do that we need to take action and all come together as one on an agreeance.
