On January 8, 1828, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison became the founders of the newly formed Democratic Party. Over time the Democratic Party has become one of the most popular political parties in the United States of America. Thomas Jefferson bestowed the ideas of the natural rights upon the Democratic Party and till this day the party still supports those rights. Amongst all political parties, the Democratic Party best upholds the Declaration principles of life, liberty, and property/pursuit of happiness based upon their positions on issues such as the right to bear arms, pro-choice, and same-sex marriage. A comparison between the Republican Party and the Democratic Party will show that the Democratic Party is more likely to push for a separation of church and state, which best protects the citizens while still being able to encourage religion. The idea that humans are born with natural rights that are inalienable is a concept that has been talked about for ages. These rights exist to protect us from intervention of any government or group of humans that wish to regulate certain rights of its civilians. John Locke …show more content…
The Democratic Party have always supported the right to bear arms, but they do however strongly believe that it should be subject to reasonable regulations due to its dangers. These regulations have been placed to serve as an important reminder that life is very precious and should be preserved not destroyed. The Democratic Party strongly believes that the government regulation on gun control will be a great and effective way to protect the lives of American citizens. These laws and regulations are to serve as a blockade, so the irresponsible few may not gain access to these deadly weapons and possibly endanger the lives around
