The organizational structure within the company should depend on a variety of factors including the type of the organization itself, it’s size and what it is aimed at. However, the poorly organized structure can possibly damage or even make the whole organization fall apart (www.businessdictionary.com).

Out of all existing organizational structures, Twelve at Hengshan, a Luxury Collection hotel, Shanghai is following the hierarchy structure. These type of organizations are based on the chain of command, where employees are ranked by different levels, hence only a few people cоntrol all аspects of the organization (www.accountingtools.com). As at Twelve at Hengshan the power is vested in the hotel owner, the initial level of the reporting structure is the ordinary staff then goes the level of supervisors, managers, further department heads, the general manager, the hotel manager and finally the owner. This structure keeps the reports organized, coordinated and does not cause any major delays.

Effective leadership plays a crucial role in every company. The style of leadership defines how successfully is the whole hotel run. Referring to my hotel, there was no collective leadership style as it varied from manager to manager. Out of all leadership styles, Northouse P.G (2015) points out four main leadership approaches: trait approach, skills approach, behavioural approach and situational approach. The trait approach has been studied a number of times, but all researches agreed that it should focus on the particular personal traits of the leader which he or she is born with, such as intelligence, self-confidence, integrity, social skills, responsibility and determination, as these traits of a leader can contribute to a strong and coordinated working environment. Although I think some improvements in the leadership style within Twelve at Hengshan could be introduced, the overall leadership is stable and strong, and it contributes to the hotel to be ranked one of the top 10 hotels in
