1.1 Explain The Importance Of Transition In Children

Through this transition it is important that we work closely with the child's parents because they will be able to help by giving information about their child and the parents contribution should be respected because they will know their child best. In my setting at the end of the day the practitioners will talk to the parents about how their child has been through out the day. They can do this by having regular meetings with the parent where they can contribute on how they can support the child through the transition. If the child's parents do not speak English this could cause concerns for the child and the setting because of the communication barrier between the parents and the staff. This can be overcome by providing a translator which …show more content…
The staff in the setting, parents and carers should ensure that the children feel emotionally safe through the transition because if they do not feel emotionally safe this could make it more difficult for them to transition from one place to another. To help the children feel emotionally safe through the transition the staff and parent could make sure that the children are aware of what is happening. The children's rights should be promoted through the transition. According to the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child article 31 (leisure, play and culture) all children have the right to relax and play and article 12 (respects of the views of the child) suggest that children have the right to be involved in any decision making and that they have the opportunity to have a say in what should happen and what they say is taking in to account. If a child had a disability it's important that they have the right to access the right support that they will be needing this is suggested in article 23 (Children with disabilities) "Children who have any kind of disability have the right to special care and support, as well as all the rights in the convention, so that they can live full and independent lives."
