*Second most common after assessment -making the referrals(try to set them up with best person) -evaluate them by doing your research( going there,website, client) -make sure referrals are still in business |

Enable(positive)- doing something as a demonstration or learning opportunity Teacher(facilitating)- letting them do it and providing feedback *Client education(core function)-providing information about alcohol/drug resources -want client to achieve increased responsibility towards achieving goals Mediator-assisting when needed(neutral stance) *Be careful to get all the facts first |

Taking the client's side but they don't always like it - Act on behalf of a client that is unwilling or unable - You decide that the case manager can intervene better |
