Data

A collection of facts, such as numbers, words, measurements, observations or even just descriptions of things.

Graph

A graph can be defined as a pictorial representation or a diagram that represents data or values in an organized manner. The points on the graph often represent the relationship between two or more things.

Bar graph

A bar graph can be defined as a chart or a graphical representation of data, quantities or numbers using bars or strips. Bar graphs are used to compare and contrast numbers, frequencies or other measures of distinct categories of data.

Mean

The mean is the average of a set of numbers. To find the mean of a data set, add up all of the numbers in the set, and then divide that total by the number of numbers in the set.

Mode

The number which appears most often in a set of numbers. Example: in {6, 3, 9, 6, 6, 5, 9, 3} the Mode is 6 (it occurs most often).

Median

The "middle" of a sorted list of numbers. To find the Median, place the numbers in value order and find the middle number.

Frequency distribution

A frequency distribution table is a chart that summarizes values and their frequency. A frequency distribution table has two columns. The first column lists all the various outcomes that occur in the data, and the second column lists the frequency of each outcome.

Tally Marks

Tally marks, also called hash marks, are a unary numeral system. They are a form of numeral used for counting. They are most useful in counting or tallying ongoing results, such as the score in a game or sport, as no intermediate results need to be erased or discarded.

Class interval/limit

The range of values in a histogram is divided into sections, called class intervals.

Class size

Difference between the true upper limit and true lower limit of a class interval is called the Class Size. Class size remains the same for all class intervals. For the class interval 10 - 20. Class size is 10, i.e., (20 - 10 = 10).

Class mark

The average of the values of the class limits for a given class. A class mark is also called a mid-value or central value.

Histogram

A graphical display where the data is grouped into ranges, and then plotted as bars. ... (Similar to a Bar Graph, but in a Histogram each bar is for a range of data.).

Pie chart

A Pie Chart (or Pie Graph) is a special chart that uses "pie slices" to show relative sizes of data. The chart is divided into sectors, where each sector shows the relative size of each value.

Probability

Probability tells you the likelihood of an event happening.
