Where is the sternum found and what other name does it go by?

the sternum is a flat long bone found in the midline of the anterior thorax and is also known as the breastbone.

What is the sternum made up of?

It is made up of the manubrium superiorly, the body in the middle and the xiphoid process (cartilage) inferiorly.

What are costal notches?
|
Costal notches serve as articular surfaces for the ribs. The costal cartilages of the first 7 pairs of ribs articulate with the sternum at the sternocostal joints.
