Developed Point

Every Wednesday the Prime Minister holds PMQT to answer questions from MPs.

Developed Point - Analysis

This shows that parliamentary representatives can hold the government to account through PMQT because the Prime Minister is forced to regularly defend her parties actions and policies on issues such as Brexit.

Developed Point Two

However, for PMQT the questions are submitted to the Prime Minister one week in advance.

Developed Point Two - Analysis

This shows parliamentary representatives cannot hold the government to account through PMQT because it gives the Prime Minister too much time to prepare strong answers which makes her and her party seem more competent than they actually are.

PMQT - Conclusion

Overall, PMQT is an ineffective way of parliamentary representatives in holding the government to account due to a time limit being set on PMQT which means the Prime Minister can only give a short answer which allows her to avoid the question and MPs are unable to question her further in her answer.
