7 Cards in this Set

  • Back
Echo
The tiny signal that comes out of the patient containing T1 relaxation, T2 relaxation and proton density information
Echo Time (TE)
The time from the excitation pulse to the measurement of the echo
Electromagnetism
Connection between electricity and magnetism which causes a magnetic field to be created whenever a charged particle moves
Excitation Pulse
RF energy used to tilt the magnetization from the longitudinal direction toward the transverse plane.
Larmor Equation
Describes the influence of the magnetic field strength on the processional frequency of the protons' net magnetization
Longitudinal Direction
The direction parallel to the magnetic field of the MR system
Net Magnetization
The magnetization that remains after those protons which are lined up against the magnetic field have cancelled an equal number aligned with the field
