What does Activation energy mean

A certain amount of energy needed for the reaction to take place.

What is Collision Theory

Particles only react when they collide.

Reactions that occur slowly have a lower rate of reaction. Whereas reactions that occur quickly have a high rate of reaction.

As particles in the reaction get used up the reaction rate decreases.

How does a Catalyst work?

Catalyst work by providing an alternative route- involving an activation energy.

What effects do Surface area have on a reaction?

The larger the surface area the faster the rate of reaction as there is more area in contact with the other particles.

What effects do Concentration have on a reaction?

If you increase the concentration of the reactants the reaction becomes faster.

●As this increases the number of times the particles collide per second

What effects do Temperature have on a reaction?

The Higher the temperature the faster the Rate of Reaction.

●As the particles have more energy they are moving faster and hit each other more often

●As the particles have more energy when they collide they are more likely to have the activation energy.
