1. Rejects the idea of a creator-god.
2. Holds that everything is full of life, as in hylozoism (from the Greek "matter-alive")
3. Sees living beings as made up of spirit of matter, or jiva and ajiva.
4. Seeks to attain a state of isolation of the jiva from ajiva. This is called kevala or "alone." (This is the Jain word for moksha). (Liberation, freedom)
