Easement in gross

a personal right to make a limited use of another person's property. EX: Gas Company

easement appurtenant

involves two parcels of land: the parcel being burdened by the easement is called the 'servient estate', while the parcel that is being benefited by the easement is called the 'dominant estate'

Prescriptive Easement

allows someone other than the original property owner to gain the rights to use a property. EX: you have used your neighbour's land to access the lake for the last 20 years. You can claim an easement by prescription rights to continue using the land to access the lake.
