What are the names of the two engine protector buttons and how they are identified?

Positive Crank case button - Excessive pressure in the crank case of the engine


Low water button - water in the cooling system is low


If either button trips the engine oil pressure will not register at the governor resulting in the low oil shut down device operating to shut down the engine.


The diesel engine will not run unless both buttons are in and latched.

What are the four possible causes of positive crankcase button operation?

- excessively high oil level in oil pan


- compression leak into oil pan due to defective rings or a cracked piston


- crank case explosion due to ignition of lube oil vapor


- blocked lube oil separator
