Survival through Different Medias
Survival is perceived different for everyone in the world. People may have the same ideals on how to survive in the world but everyone’s way of survival will be different. The means of survival and the way people think of survival changes when something drastic happens such as a disease that has spread that is taking many lives or a zombie infestation that takes over the world and there seems to be no hope for the world. The way survival is portrayed in literature changes as well accordingly to the circumstances that takes place in the book. The way survival is portrayed in World War Z is not getting bitten and turned into a zombie. This is the main goal of survival for most of the population that hasn’t been turned yet and is the goal of Gerry Lane, until he is brought back to his former career to help the military to find a way to effectively fight the zombies and find how to cure them, so this epidemic will end and the world can go back to normal. The way Gerry Lane survives throughout the film is very miraculous at the very least, he is caught in countries that get taken over by zombies and escapes them barely most of the time. The way people survived in this film were to stay indoors and wait their inevitable death, or try to escape and take the chance of getting turned into a zombie. Survival is a key aspect that took place in both World War Z and Fever,1793 and the ways of survival was taken differently with both books in different situations and time periods.
Survival in World War Z was more about actively finding a cure to end the zombie apolcolypes, while in Fever,1793 survival was just waiting the fever out until the frost came and that would end the yellow fever scare. The Similarities between the ways of survival is portrayed is that both had a timeline and an idea to get away from the city and go to an area where the disease or zombies have taken over yet.
