A supporting factor that contributed to the departure of Simba from the kingdom is his character. As cub Simba has many childlike qualities, for instance, he is inquisitive, impressionable, and naive. Since Simba was not there to succeed his father, Scar became king of Pride Rock and of all that reigns under it. He takes advantage Simba’s mother and the others grieving state and con them into believing his lies. By doing so, Scar (who was once an outcast) was able to get the pride to comply to his will. As king Scar puts the hyenas in charge and orders the hunters to pursue prey to feed the hyenas. Over the course of the estimated six years Simba spent with Timon and Pumba, the kingdom suffered from a drought which resulted in crops dying and any animals who weren 't hunted left. The drought symbolizes the despair that the kingdom was under while Scar was king, which could have been avoided if Simba were king. The drought and the famine cause other in the kingdom to become desperate enough to venture out for help while others try to convince Scar to move the kingdom to a more prosperous
