Modernism versus Post-Modernism
Modernism explains science as the process of learning and that everything needs to be tested and measured in order to be truth and reality. Modernists believe that knowledge and expertise will ultimately solve problems and seek progression. Educators’ value discipline and order in their classroom and their goal is to measure the input and output of examinations by completing standardized testing. They look to create learners who strive to think analytically and critically.

“Post-Structuralism is a critique of Structuralism conducted from within: that is, it turns certain of Structuralism’s arguments against itself and points to certain fundamental inconsistencies in their method which Structuralists have ignored” (Blake et al., 2009, p. 61). History is sometimes subjected to different biases and misinterpretations due to cultural differences of those presenting the facts that is sometimes hard to know how it really was. When examining this theory, a quote came to mind by Winston Churchill. His famous quote was, “History is written by the victors.” History has always been one of those subjects that is written about after the fact but is only based on one perspective, which was that of the victors in history. More recently through the use of technology, many perspectives are compiled to give the clearest understanding of what actually happened.
Marxism looks at things as products and tools of exploitation. Unless on the top of the pyramid, everyone else involved is often exploited in some way. Many things can be used to exploit others from high cost of homes to the low cost of candy. One of the American dreams is to own a home and banks can exploit this with high interest rates.
