The skill component is used to examine the student`s skills and thought processes related to constructing meaning for important new information. This component also analyzes how the student prepares and then demonstrates their new knowledge on evaluative procedures. The skill component is testing the information processing, selecting main ideas, and test strategies scales. Parker Childress scored in the five percentile on the information processing scale. To note, the image processing scale assess the students ability to use imagery verbal elaboration, organization strategies, reasoning skills, and learning strategies to connect what they have previously learned and what they are presently learning. Furthermore, a low score indicates that the student may have difficulty making information meaningful and storing it in memory in a way that will help them recall it in the future. On the selecting main ideas scale, Parker Childress scored in the 25 percentile for the tenth grade. To enlighten, the selecting main ideas scale assess the student’s skill at identifying important information among the less important information. It is important to note that students who score low on this scale need to develop the skill of separating critical information from other non-needed information. One of which was the selecting information scale. I had previously believed that I was an excellent note taker. However, the score of a 50 percent contradicts my previous beliefs. My 25 percent on motivation also gave me some confusion. I thought that I had great motivation to do well in school, my AA degree is among one of the reasons for me to do good in school. My low score in motivation explains why my anxiety score was a 40 percent. I worry too much about school because I have my motivation is low. In order lower my anxiety, I must find motivation. Time management also plays a role in my anxiety. For instance, my score on time management was a 50 percent. My lack of time management ultimately results in me cramming in assignment and tests at the last possible minute causing high levels of anxiety. On the bright side, a score of an 85 percent on concentration affirms that I have good listening skills; unfortunately, my capability to use those skills in singling out information is not up to
