Using the four ethical frameworks from a Normative Perspective this scenario will be critically examined through the lens of the teacher. Ethical issues identified by the author are the divide between the prospective financial supporters and the beliefs and policies of the school. Furthermore the community’s health and wellbeing and the impact one has on the other.
Consequentialism is a decision made based on the possible outcome of the action (Preston, 2001). Through examining the outcome the possible negative results can be eliminated (Dr A. Sammel, personal communication, July 7,2010). Consequentialism has three sub categories, to be discussed individually.

McJacks- Providing financial sponsorship this company benefits through promotion of their products including healthier options.
Bringing Altruism to fruition, a focus on the long term needs of the community must be established, particularly the health issues. Encouraging and supporting a healthy eating program with the assistance of McJacks (therefore, promoting the newer more nutritious menu options) whilst providing a physical activity program, supporting education of all stakeholders.
Utilitarianism- looks at achieving the best possible outcome for the greatest number where compromise may be required to create a win/win position (Preston, 2007). Regarding the scenario the possibilities would correlate with those stated in Altruism, however; the teacher’s views are also considered in identifying the best outcome for the greatest number.
Under the Consequentialism banner although an immediate solution would not be established the author selects the Utilitarianism approach as it undertakes a viewpoint from all in creating a long term solution.
Non- Consequentialism
Non-Consequentialism places emphasis on the rules that one lives by, deeming what is right or wrong regardless of consequences (Burgh et al., 2006). This perspective is broken into the following:
