Women in the Victorian era lived in extremely different world from now. Women were treated in society as in second class and had few rights and did not had control over themselves. Even their lives were different from each other. There was differences between classes of women. There were upper class women and lower class women. The upper class were carefully raised and well-educated. On the other hand, lower class were working very hard and treated with no respect or appreciation. In this essay I will describe the women in the Victorian era in many fields through marriage, education and working field.

Public schools were not common during the Victorian era. However, homeschooling was common among wealthier families through governess or through boarding schools. According to the article, “Education for Men and Women in the Victorian Era,” Howard (2012) states that governesses were common among the wealthier families, and were young women who would live with families, and provide a basic education to their children. Many women did not receive education at all. However, there were who learned at home with a governess or went to a boarding school. Their curriculum included music, drawing, learning new language, and literature. After education, women did not had much job options and opportunities like men.
