World War 1 (WWI), a war of about one hundred years ago, had prolific effects on the world and still does to this day. The war came about in a manner of ways, and it took away millions of lives in a great manner of ways as well. Life, society, culture, and people drastically changed due to its impacts, requiring and calling for revolution(s). WWI took place between July 28th, 1914 and 11 November 11th, 1918.WWI was caused by militarism, alliances, nationalism, imperialism, and the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
To begin, militarism between Germany and England helped to set up the foundation for WWI. When the twentieth century began, so did the arms race (of WWI). (The Germans wanted an empire rivaling the French and English empires, and) Germany desired a navy as powerful as the british navy, but Britain disapproved of the Germany want, as Britain it was at great to its empire and trade links. Britain tried to maintain a two power standard of having (at least) two times that of Germany. Germany and England began to build massive ships (dreadnoughts), and England was outperforming Germany at the task or arms race. Consequently, the Germans increased their territorial forces, causing France and Russia to do the same. If Germany were to attack France or Russia, then it would do so by land. A possible German attack by land is why the French and Russians increased their land forces too. (Weapons such as guns were also being produced.) The end result was an increase…
