Between 1890 to 1914 both the Triple Alliance and Triple Entente spent millions of dollars on equipment for the army and navy. According to Document C, Great Britain spent more on their navy in 1910. They had to do this because Great Britain would have to cross the sea to fight in the war. Militarism caused World War I because of the idea of competition and countries thinking they were more superior than the others. Countries questioned in fear why other countries were gathering their army for war causing them to begin preparing themselves, thus sparking the war.
