As a normal woman living in the twenty-first century, not a crazy exaggerated feminist, nor the head of women’s rights movement, just as a simple woman with enough common sense to take issue to your “rejected” ads published all over the internet. When I first saw your advertisements, not only did I feel offended, but I felt sorrow for the people that actually believe that these are somehow “witty” or “funny” in any sort of way. The one that revolted me the most, is attached below. I believe this loathsome advertisement inducing aggression and oppression to women’s rights has crossed the boundaries.
How could violence towards women, be utilized as an advertisement weapon? Since 1647, women have been fighting for their rights. Since the 17th century, endless efforts, battling to take a stance for women's rights were made. Nowadays, four centuries after the most active feminists such as Alice Paul, Maud Wood Park, Mary McLeod Bethune, have dedicated their life on that issue, do you still believe that publishing these ads are still worth blowing these exhausting efforts up in smoke? Why is for every step forward in this society, is there two steps back? Do you wish, being one of the most famous commodity brands and influential campaigns in advertising history, to embody that crucial controversy? Promoting violence through a milk advertisement, sounds like an oxymoron; milk’s very intimate connotation, as being the mother’s nutriment to her child, representing tenderness and genuineness, juxtaposed to this very violent context of “hitting”.
