If I leave and fail to escape, it will be the demise of me. I can’t bear to think about Marvin and mother, the penalty they will grant them… but I have to at least try. I clutch a dejected sack filled with food, water, and a gentle sleek blanket.
“Goodbye mother, Goodbye Marvin,” I whisper so quietly, I feel as if the words barely escape my lips. My dry, thin, shriveled lips. I plait my hair in a matter of 1 minute, and then I Depart. It’s notably a voice belonging to a man. I hear the click of a gun being loaded. It’s either now or never, I sprint towards the hill and don’t stop. I’m thin from the lack of food yet I run rapidly.
“Shoot!” The voice says again. I jump over the hill as I hear the gunshots. I count at least six gunshots. Can you imagine six nazis hunting down a nine-year-old girl? I evade most, but a single bullet hits me in the hand. I grimace as I land, observing the damage. They’re in hot pursuit so I have to think fast. Even though the bullet is wedged in my hand and I need to treat it, my number one priority is to escape. I keep running.
“Forget it she’s gone” I hear a voice say. I look behind rapidly and see my same blonde hair, same hazel eyes, and same sullen face. There is no doubt that this is my dad. I thought he was killed by the nazis but apparently, because of his ability to produce guns at a rapid pace, they must have recruited
