On August 6 and 9, 1945, the President of the United States , Harry S. Truman, ordered the “dropping of atomic bombs” on ‘Hiroshima’ and ‘Nagasaki’ Japan. The Japanese were defeated due to the dropping of the atomic bombs which drastically ended World War II. More than 200,000 people were killed from both of the bombings. Most people that perished were civilians. The dropping of “Little Boy” and “Fat Man” have remained still to this day the only time atomic bombs were used in “war”. Many people believed that dropping the atomic bombs to destroy two cities of Japan helped America. They also believed that dropping the bombs helped President Truman accomplish several things. Dropping the atomic bombs on the two Japanese towns was a way of Americans to seek revenge on Japanese for Pearl Harbor. The atomic bombing of Japan would explain the costs of the Manhattan Project. President Truman would have accepted serious complications if this expense was not justified.
President Truman was under tremendous pressure to please the public and give them a reason to keep him in office due to re-election.There was a hatred for the Japanese along with this pressure because of Pearl Harbor. The United States President Harry Truman said, “Using the atomic bomb we used it against Japan who attacked us at Pearl Harbor...” and , “against Japan which tortured and killed Americans.” Truman felt that this was the only way to shorten the war and to spare many American citizens

Just one bomb could demolish the whole port. President Truman read the letter and agreed to make atomic bombs. President Truman reported that Manhattan project was a success and made the order to drop bombs.He decided to do this in order to stop the war as quickly as he could. Truman wrote in 1955 , on his first day as president, Byrnes told him that the United States was creating the atomic bomb. The bomb would be massive enough to demolish the world. Once President Harry Truman found out the test bomb was successful , he ordered the dropping of the two atomic bombs on Japan.
