The first reason I believe indian boarding schools were unneeded was because they would “kill the indian save the man” they would take away family so you could never be with your family. One thing they did was they got beat for speaking their language as i mentioned in the paragraph with the boy that got thrown down the stairs, in addition they lost their native tongue because of being beaten, also they had to do embarrassing things like dance in front of other people.
In conclusion, I think the way they treated indians at boarding schools was unneeded and they did not have to be treated that way because it was killing the indian and saving the man, it was inhumane treatment, and it was horrible if you got physically punished. I understand some people might think indian boarding schools would be good but they are not because people were very punished for unneeded reasons. This is important to understand because indians were very mistreated for no reason maybe people need to think about how we could have handled this issue a different
