Who Moved My Cheese is a book about the different ways people handle change in their life. The story begins as a group of friends meet after their high school reunion. The group was discussing how so many things have changed since high school, and then one of the young men in the group, began to tell a story about change that everyone could relate to. The story contains four fictional characters; Sniff and Scurry are mice, Hem and Haw are little people, they all live in a maze and their main goal in life is to find cheese. Haw was tired of being afraid of change and pleaded with Hem to come with him to look for new cheese but Hem refused. Haw started searching the maze and wrote encouraging quotes on the wall to help him and to help Hem if he decided to search. Some of Haw’s quotes were “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?” “Movement in a new direction helps you find new cheese.” “It is safer to search in the maze, than remain in a cheese less situation.”
During Haw’s search in the maze he learned a lot about change and about himself and his attitude towards change, and he eventually found Cheese at station N. He saw Sniff and Scurry who had been in cheese station N for a long time. Cheese station N had the largest pile of cheese the characters have seen in their life. Haw looked for Hem to arrive every day but he never made it to cheese station N, his fear of change held him back.
After the story, the friends that had met discussed how they could apply the principles of change and the fear they have in their own life situations.
My review:
This book Who moved my cheese, is a simple book. The main point in the story states that instead of being afraid or worried when change comes, we should accept and anticipate the new adventure for our life. The story will help you to watch for change and adapt when change happens, enjoy change and expect great things from change.
