The story is about a 16 years old boy, named Holden Caufield and it is told by his perspective. The story begins telling us about his life, specifically in the school, where he is about to be expelled because of his bad performance (he is falling almost all the subjects.)
Holden studied in a boarding school called Pencey Prep, in Pennsylvania. After a fight with his colleague room, he decided to leave Pencey earlier than the concerted. Then, he gots a train to New York, where he leaves, but Holden didn't want to see his family because they would probably ask why he is home earlier. So, he decides to stay in a hotel for some days.

This, made his days full of bars, drinks and loneliness. Like is have already said, the book deals with grownth, and how Holden see the adults and teenagers. It is possible to notice that he calls everyone one "phony". Less some people, which includes his little sister, Phoebe.
Phoebe is one of the only person, Holden say good things and show to us, the readers, to like her. And his other brother, Allie, who have died.
In the end of the book, Holden talks to a professor who gave him new perspective and opinion about all the things Holden shines to us over the book.
The story is full of methafors and reflections, in which make the readers so interested. Althought the simple and colloquial language, the book have a really deep meaning. Is not for nothing, that it was banned from a lot of countries.
It is easy and fast to read, looking like a silly story, but at the end it is awesome. Even more, this book revolutionized the way to write and the the view of people about certain subjects. That you will need to read, to discover, along with the methaphor and Holden
