In the book to kill a mockingbird Mr. Cunningham paid with food because he was poor. Mr. Cunningham and his kid were really embarrassed about people knowing about this.Scout tried to give Mr. Cunninghams kid some money at school but he didn't take it because he was embarrassed. To Kill A Mockingbird is a novel that shows the ugly side of how racism affects people. Though the novel has several characters that make people look very bad for their racist views, there are those who can be admired for their rebuttal of such views. With Atticus leading the way, Scout and Jem learn valuable lessons about treating everyone fairly. On the other hand we have characters like Bob Ewell who show us exactly what prejudice and racism look like. By giving us this strong contrast in characters, Harper Lee has shown the audience two paths to take in regard to judging others.
