Many families faced extreme difficulties during this period. Divorces started to become an usual, expected thing and so did wedding delays. Birthrates also dropped extremely fast even below the replacement level. When President Hoover took office, the stress of families grew because of the deficit of income. This also put men out of work and caused them to depend on their wives and children for financial support. Many men lost their dignity and self-respect so they abandoned their family. On the other hand, women grew from it and was able to procure jobs easier than their husbands. He wanted to direct America on a secure path when the economic mind was at its lowest point. Although he was doing everything that he thought would help, he failed to end the depression. There were many different impacts that the New Deal had on arts and letters such as: need for a sidetrack of entertainment, government grant for art, observation of suffering across the land, documents of American culture and backstory of it how it was established, etc. These influences led to a variety of art movements. One of those being modern dancing unfolded by Martha Graham and Doris Humphrey. The movement of Abstract Expressionism was developed by painters. The Golden Age of Hollywood started the American Style of Filmmaking. Jazz music and the form of dance that it created developed the Swing Movement.
