This book was easy to read due to its use of the vernacular and intimate interviews; the situations described were relatable and understandable. Certain successes and failures spoke to me for varying reasons. For example, the case of Oprah Winfrey stood out to me while reading. I took interest in her story because she has been a positive role model for me throughout my entire life; she is one of the few celebrities who are not associated with any major scandals. Oprah is not only an inspiring leader, but also a vocal advocate for women’s equality; this topic is important to me due to of the severe lack of women in the aviation industry. Her story was similar to others in the book because a single event changed the direction of her life; however, hers was different because this event was a life-changing realization in front of a live audience. When she heard the words of a guest on her show, she suddenly recognized an eerie familiarity to a situation she had gone through herself. “Today Winfrey has built a media empire that is one of the most respected in the world, but not until the Truddi Chase interview did she realize her broader mission,” (George 63). Her traumatizing incident stayed pent up inside for years before resurfacing, only to then be used as fuel to improve her life and the lives of those around
