The more interviews I conducted the more common seemed the responses. I categorized my data into two themes that seemed to be present in all my interviews were one being that arranged marriages should not exist because women are forced into marriage. The other theme was that arranged marriage do and should exist because they are said to be “suggested marriages” and that women are not forced into marriage. An incredible difference was seen in views, between the age groups of the interviewees, when I interviewed those who were under the age of thirty; they seemed to have completely opposite opinions from those over the age of forty. “White” then stated that “I personally think it’s terrible, how can one marry someone they don’t know”. White went further by saying that it should be allowed because she doesn’t find it fair. “For some religions, marriage only happens once,” which means there is no divorce, and that she needs to know the other person before they can agree to spend the rest of her life with the person. It showed that arranged marriages are still occurring in different areas, some more than others. Most reasons of arranged marriages tended to be well know by the interviewees, depending on their demographic, and community. It showed that for every culture, there are reasons for having arranged marriages. For the other reasons that were in the research but were not found in the interview data, I would also believe that those are also accurate, and that if I was able to talk to the demographics given in the research I would be able to get the same findings. Interview data lacked the main components of why arranged marriages occur compared to the research background because since we live in a first world country Reasons, such as financial stability and woman’s rights are not factors in deciding to marry
